Celebrating the Legacy of Anaesthesia In CGC Jhanjeri
In a tribute to the life-saving marvels of modern medicine, Chandigarh Group of Colleges (CGC) Jhanjeri hosted an immersive and enlightening event, “Aastha in Anaesthesia,” commemorating World Anaesthesia Day. This celebration traced the fascinating journey of anaesthesia, from its humble beginnings to the sophisticated practices that define contemporary surgical care.
The event was graced by the esteemed Dr. Guneet Sodhi, MBBS, MD, DNB, from ClearMedi Bahra Multi-speciality Hospital, Mohali, who delivered a powerful opening speech. Reflecting on the evolution of anaesthetic science, Dr. Sodhi spoke of the profound impact anaesthesia has had on transforming healthcare and the promise it holds in the future of medical advancements.
A compelling hands-on CPR workshop led by Dr. Sodhi, alongside students from CGC Jhanjeri’s AOTT/OTT programs, was a cornerstone of the event. This live demonstration empowered students with essential lifesaving skills, including chest compressions and rescue breathing techniques, instilling in them both confidence and readiness to respond to cardiac emergencies.
Students also took centre stage with a presentation titled “Itihaas Gawah Hai,” an evocative exploration of anaesthesia’s evolution. The presentation celebrated the pioneers and milestones that have shaped the field, fostering a sense of reverence for the discipline’s historical and scientific contributions to medicine.
Continuing with practical education, the event featured an informative session by the “Swach Hath Swasth Zindagi” team on hand hygiene, a critical component of infection prevention in clinical settings. Through meticulous demonstrations of hand-scrubbing techniques, this session emphasised the paramount importance of sterility and discipline in surgical environments.
Adding a vibrant note to the day, students showcased their diverse talents through cultural performances, including traditional dances, songs, and poetry recitations. This spirited display of creativity and heritage fostered a shared sense of unity and joy among attendees, while a musical segment brought students and faculty together, offering a refreshing pause from the day’s intensive learning.
The resounding success of “Aastha in Anaesthesia” stands as a testament to the thoughtful vision and unwavering support of CGC Jhanjeri’s management. Through a harmonious blend of academic rigour, practical training, and community-building initiatives, the management remains steadfast in its mission to create an enriching environment where students are prepared for meaningful and impactful careers. Events like these underscore CGC Jhanjeri’s commitment to fostering not only skilled professionals but well-rounded individuals dedicated to excellence in healthcare and beyond.
