CGC Jhanjeri, Mohali Lights Up with ‘Jashan-e-Lohri’
Chandigarh Group of Colleges, Jhanjeri, Mohali, brimmed with joy and festivity as it celebrated the vibrant harvest festival of Lohri through its grand event, ‘Jashan-e-Lohri’ 2025 The occasion brought together students, staff, and management in a colorful tapestry of cultural pride, unity, and reverence for this cherished tradition.
Lohri, known as a festival of gratitude and renewal, celebrates the hard work of farmers and the abundance of harvests. Rooted in values of thankfulness, prosperity, and togetherness, the festival holds a special place in the hearts of people, symbolizing the triumph of light over darkness and good over evil. This spirit was beautifully captured at CGC Mohali, as the campus transformed into a hub of traditional joy and cultural expression.
The day began with lively folk performances that included Punjabi songs, bhangra, and gidda, filling the air with energy and excitement. The beats of the dhol echoed across the campus, drawing everyone to join the rhythm of the celebrations. A pious bonfire, the symbolic heart of Lohri, was lit with prayers for a fruitful year ahead, uniting everyone in a moment of shared hope and blessings.
Adding to the fervor, several awards were presented to recognize the spirit of tradition and celebration. Titles such as Best Traditional Gabru, Best Traditional Queen, and Best Dressed were conferred upon the most elegantly attired participants, highlighting the cultural essence of the day. Furthermore, the event honored staff achievers and Long Association Award Winners for their exceptional contributions, underscoring the institution’s commitment to recognizing dedication and excellence within its community.
The celebrations were graced by the esteemed presence of the Honourable Managing Director, Mr. Arsh Dhaliwal, along with other members of the management. In his address, Mr. Dhaliwal emphasized the importance of festivals like Lohri in preserving cultural heritage, fostering unity, and inspiring gratitude for life’s blessings. He lauded the enthusiastic participation of students and staff, commending their efforts in making the event a spectacular success.
