CGC MOHALI IGNITES THE SPIRIT OF SPORTSMANSHIP AT THE 8th ANNUAL SPORTS FIESTA 2025
Amidst the thundering applause of spectators and the unyielding determination of athletes, Chandigarh Group of Colleges, Mohali (Jhanjeri) unfurled yet another chapter of sporting excellence with the 8th Annual Sports Fiesta 2025—a magnificent convergence of skill, resilience, and competitive grandeur. Spanning multiple days, this colossal sporting spectacle bore witness to unparalleled athletic prowess, igniting the spirit of sportsmanship across the campus.
The event commenced with a moment of reverence and pride—the ceremonial flag hoisting, symbolizing the ethos of fair play, perseverance, and unity. This was followed by a meticulously coordinated march-past by the NCC cadets, their synchronized strides embodying the discipline, integrity, and valor that sports so ardently demand.
Adding an aura of prestige to the occasion were celebrated sporting luminaries, including Mr. Shanky Singh, an acclaimed Indian Professional Wrestler; Mr. Shivpal Singh, Olympian Javelin Thrower; and Mr. Dinesh Kumar, Olympian Boxer and Arjuna Awardee. Their illustrious presence and inspirational words left an indelible imprint on the young athletes, motivating them to push beyond limits and carve their own legacies.
A symphony of strength and strategy unfolded across various arenas, with athletes testing their mettle in an array of exhilarating competitions, including long jump, shot put, discus throw, hammer throw, arm wrestling, and the ever-enthusiastic lemon race, among many others. Every event was a testament to human endurance, sheer willpower, and the ceaseless pursuit of greatness. The winners in the athletics category shone brightly, with James (CEC) securing gold in the 100m Boys’ race, Chipo (CSB) triumphing in the 100m Girls’ category, and Aditya Mishra (CSB) claiming the 200m Boys’ title. In the field events, Mukul (CEC) dominated the long jump and triple jump, while Areka (CEC) emerged as the overall best female athlete, and Mukul (CEC) secured the title of best male athlete.
Yet, the fiesta was not merely a contest of physical excellence—it was an ode to culture, energy, and artistic mastery. The invigorating Bhangra performances electrified the atmosphere, pulsating with the rhythm of Punjab’s rich heritage. The high-octane Taekwondo showcase exemplified precision, agility, and martial artistry, while the electrifying performance by The Maulers left the audience spellbound in admiration.
In his keynote address, Hon’ble Managing Director, Mr. Arsh Dhaliwal, lauded the athletes for their tenacity and emphasized the transformative power of sports. He remarked,
"True champions are not defined by victories alone, but by their ability to rise after every fall, to persevere through adversity, and to relentlessly chase excellence. At CGC Mohali, we do not merely shape athletes—we cultivate leaders, visionaries, and torchbearers of the future."
Recognizing the exemplary achievements of the participants, CGC Mohali bestowed substantial rewards upon the champions. The Kabaddi Boys’ team clinched gold and a cheque of ?50,000, while the Girls’ Handball team secured gold along with ?50,000. The Boys’ Volleyball gold medalists received ?40,000, and the silver-winning Girls’ Volleyball team was awarded ?30,000. Other notable rewards included ?20,000 for the Powerlifting (Mixed) team, ?10,000 for the Athletics team, and ?10,000 for the Chess Girls’ team (Bronze medalists). In a remarkable display of support for talent, the Honourable Management, granted a full waiver on academic fees, accommodation, and training facilities to Ashutosh for securing a silver medal in the AIU Kickboxing Tournament. Furthermore, academic scholarships were announced for players and teams securing medals at the IKGPTU Inter-College, State, National, and International tournaments, reinforcing CGC Mohali’s unwavering commitment to nurturing sporting talent.
