CGC Jhanjeri Partners with The Climate Reality Project to Champion Sustainability Chandigarh Group of Colleges (CGC) Jhanjeri has taken a significant step towards environmental sustainability by partnering with The Climate Reality Project India and South Asia. The partnership was formalized through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed on 10th July 2024 by Hon’ble Managing Director Mr. Arsh Singh Dhaliwal and Director Mr. Aditya Pundhir of The Climate Reality Project India and South Asia. The signing ceremony was followed by an orientation program and a symbolic tree plantation drive, emphasizing the shared commitment to a greener future. This collaboration aims to implement the "Green Campus Program" at CGC Jhanjeri, focusing on air quality improvement, water conservation, waste management, biodiversity enhancement, and energy efficiency. Key Objectives of the Green Campus Program: * Air Quality Improvement: Initiatives to monitor and enhance the air quality on campus. * Water Conservation: Strategies to conserve water resources and promote sustainable usage. * Waste Management: Comprehensive waste management practices to reduce, reuse, and recycle. * Biodiversity Enhancement: Efforts to increase biodiversity through various campus activities. * Energy Efficiency: Implementing energy-saving measures and promoting the use of renewable energy sources. In addition to these core areas, the collaboration will support educational initiatives, including the creation of digital content and capacity-building activities such as seminars and workshops. These initiatives will be conducted in partnership with governmental and non-governmental organizations to ensure a broad and impactful reach. Mr. Arsh Singh Dhaliwal, Honorable Managing Director of CGC Jhanjeri, expressed his commitment to the cause: "We are dedicated to making measurable impacts and fostering a healthier environment. This partnership is a significant step towards achieving our sustainability goals." Mr. Aditya Pundhir, Director of The Climate Reality Project India and South Asia, highlighted the collaborative spirit of the initiative: "Together, we aim to inspire and empower our community towards sustainability. This partnership will pave the way for meaningful environmental action." To mark the commencement of this significant collaboration, a tree plantation drive was conducted on campus. This initiative resonates with the "Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam" campaign launched by Shri Narendra Modi on World Environment Day. Shri Modi's efforts, including planting a Peepal tree at Buddha Jayanti Park in Delhi, underscore the importance of collective action in increasing forest cover and achieving sustainable development. The Green Campus Program will be supported by educational efforts, including the creation of engaging digital content and organizing seminars and workshops. These activities will be designed to raise awareness about climate change, resource conservation, and sustainability among students, faculty, and the wider community. This partnership between CGC Jhanjeri and The Climate Reality Project India and South Asia represents a shared vision of a sustainable future. By focusing on key areas such as air quality, water conservation, waste management, biodiversity, and energy efficiency, the initiative aims to create a healthier, more sustainable environment for all stakeholders involved.
