NCC Wing of CGC Jhanjeri Pays Heartfelt Tribute on Kargil Vijay Diwas with Tree Plantation Drive
On the poignant occasion of Kargil Vijay Diwas, the NCC Wing of Chandigarh Group of Colleges (CGC) Jhanjeri, in collaboration with the 1 Punjab Naval Unit, Naya Nangal, gathered at the War Memorial in Chandigarh to honour and pay their deepest respects to the brave soldiers who made the ultimate sacrifice during the Kargil War of 1999. The ceremony, held on 26th July 2024, was a stirring tribute marked by solemn reverence, heartfelt patriotism, and a meaningful tree plantation drive.
The Honourable Punjab Health Minister, Dr. Balbir Singh, led the tributes with a moving homage to the martyred soldiers. His words, imbued with deep respect and admiration, served as a powerful reminder of the soldiers' extraordinary bravery and selfless dedication. Dr. Singh emphasised the indelible legacy of these heroes, whose sacrifices have secured the nation's peace and sovereignty.
Representing the NCC Wing of CGC Jhanjeri, Sub Lt. Syed Mohd. Arif, Associate NCC Officer, alongside Col. R. K. Choudhary, Admin Officer of 23 Punjab Battalion NCC Ropar, Punjab, laid wreaths and paid their respects at the War Memorial. Their presence underscored the profound commitment of CGC Jhanjeri and the NCC to nurturing the values of patriotism, courage, and service in their cadets.
Following the ceremony, 58 dedicated NCC cadets participated in a tree plantation drive, symbolising not only the bravery and resilience of our soldiers but also the growth and strength of our nation. Each tree planted serves as a living tribute to the heroes of Kargil, reflecting the spirit of unity, patriotism, and commitment to environmental sustainability. This initiative highlights the NCC Wing's dedication to honouring the memory of the fallen soldiers while contributing to a greener, healthier future.
The ceremony at the War Memorial in Chandigarh, coupled with the tree plantation drive, was a profound tribute to the martyred soldiers.
