CGC Jhanjeri Achieves Remarkable Sports Success in 2023-24

The Chandigarh Group of Colleges, Jhanjeri (CGC-J) has demonstrated exceptional prowess in sports throughout the academic year 2023-24. The institution’s commitment to fostering athletic talent and promoting excellence is evident from the impressive achievements of its students across a range of competitive events.

The Annual Sports Fest Lakshya 2023 served as a testament to CGC-J's athletic excellence. Held at Baddi University, the college’s basketball teams delivered outstanding performances, securing gold medals in both men’s and women’s categories. The football teams also excelled, winning gold medals and highlighting the depth of talent at CGC-J.

At the Table Tennis Tournament hosted by CTIEMT, Shahpur, Jalandhar, CGC-J earned a silver medal, showcasing the competitive spirit and skill of its players. The football team continued to shine with a silver medal at GGI, Khanna. Meanwhile, the girls’ basketball team secured a silver medal at SVIET, Banur, and the boys’ basketball team achieved a bronze medal in the same tournament.

The college’s success extended to the Kabaddi Tournament at IKGPTU Main Campus, Kapurthala, where the men’s team won a gold medal, reflecting their strategic prowess and physical endurance. Additionally, the handball teams demonstrated resilience with both boys’ and girls’ teams securing bronze medals at BGIET, Sangrur.

In the Power Lifting and Best Physique Championship held at CEC, Landran, CGC-J’s athletes distinguished themselves with notable results:

* Gold Medals: 59kg and 83kg (Power Lifting); 75kg and 90kg (Best Physique)

* Silver Medals: 93kg (Power Lifting); 70kg (Best Physique)

* Bronze Medals: 66kg (Power Lifting); 60kg, 70kg, and 85kg (Best Physique)

The Volleyball teams further demonstrated CGC-J's sporting excellence at SVIT, Banur, with both boys’ and girls’ teams clinching gold medals.

At the IKGPTU Inter-College Athletic Meet in March 2024, held at IKGPTU Main Campus, Kapurthala, CGC-J athletes achieved remarkable results:

* Gold Medals: Long Jump (Men), Triple Jump (Men), Javelin Throw (Men)

* Silver Medals: Discus Throw (Men), Hammer Throw (Men), Javelin Throw (Women), 800m (Men), Discuss Throw (Women), 4x400m Relay (Men)

* Bronze Medals: 4x400m Relay (Women), Long Jump (Women)
