On September 5, 2023, Chandigarh Group of Colleges - Jhanjeri's National Service Scheme (NSS) organized a Donation Drive to commemorate the International Day of Charity. Fifty-five dedicated students actively participated in this noble endeavour, distributing stationary items and books to underprivileged children in nearby slum areas. Alongside the material support, the students conducted an awareness campaign, emphasizing the transformative power of education. The event was a resounding success, leaving a positive impact on both the beneficiaries and the volunteers. The children expressed their gratitude, and the volunteers were deeply moved by the experience, vowing to participate in similar initiatives in the future. This event not only provided essential resources to those in needs but also highlighted the potential for positive change through collective efforts, reinforcing the importance of community service and education.
On November 10, 2023, the Department of Student Welfare at Chandigarh Group of Colleges orchestrated a heart-warming Diwali donation drive for the benefit of the local NGO, Prabh Aasra, dedicated to the care and treatment of mentally disturbed individuals. The event witnessed a compassionate outpouring of support from both staff and students, with the invaluable assistance of National Service Scheme (NSS) volunteers. The spirit of giving was encapsulated in the donation of essential groceries, symbolizing the collective effort to bring joy and relief to those in need. This initiative not only demonstrated the college community's commitment to social responsibility but also underscored the power of collective goodwill in fostering a more compassionate and inclusive society.
On January 24th, the Chandigarh Group of Colleges-Jhanjeri, in collaboration with the NSS wing, orchestrated a significant donation event in the villages of Jhanjeri and MachliKalan. The primary objective was to address the pressing issue of menstrual hygiene in government schools by donating sanitary pad vending machines. The event began with a warm welcome to participants, featuring informative sessions on menstrual health to raise awareness.The event not only delivered a tangible benefit to the schools in Jhanjeri and MachliKalan but also showcased the positive impact achievable through collective efforts and empathy. By empowering young girls with the necessary resources, the initiative contributes to breaking barriers and promoting education for all, creating a lasting impact on the well-being of the local communities involved.
The NSS wing, under the auspices of the Dean of Students' Welfare (DSW) at Chandigarh Group of Colleges-Jhanjeri, celebrated Mother's Day with great fervor and compassion at the Kartar Aasra NGO. The NSS students extended their heartfelt gestures by presenting gifts of suits and fruits to the elder ladies residing at the NGO. The event was marked by meaningful conversations and shared learning experiences between the NSS students and the elderly women. On this 11th of May, 2024, the event not only honored the spirit of Mother's Day but also embodied the essence of compassion and respect towards the elderly in our society.
From June 11 to June 15, 2022, CGC Jhanjeri's Department of Student Welfare and Fashion Design Department, under the Unnat Bharat Program, organized a five-day free craft workshop at Mjaatri Gurudwara, running daily from 10 AM to 1 PM. This initiative aimed to empower rural women by teaching them valuable skills to earn their basic livelihood. The camp included active participation from the NSS wing, ensuring a comprehensive and supportive environment for learning. The women were taught various crafts such as tie-dying, painting, embroidery, and cutting. These skills not only provided them with creative outlets but also opened up avenues for potential income generation. Upon completion of the workshop, participants received free certificates and essential items to aid them in their craft endeavors. The camp was a resounding success, fostering a sense of empowerment and self-sufficiency among the rural women and reinforcing the commitment of CGC Jhanjeri to social development and community upliftment.
On April 16, 2024, Chandigarh Group of Colleges (CGC) Jhanjeri celebrated Kanjak Puja with great fervor and enthusiasm. The event witnessed the participation of over 100 young girls, embodying the essence of this traditional Hindu ritual which honors and celebrates girl children as manifestations of the divine feminine.
The ceremony commenced with the traditional washing of the girls' feet, symbolizing purity and respect, followed by aarti and the application of tilak. The atmosphere was vibrant with devotional songs and chants, enhancing the spiritual ambiance of the occasion. The presence of Mr. Arsh Dhaiwal, Managing Director, and Ms. Bismin Dhaliwal, Director of Student Affairs, added a significant touch to the event, as they personally distributed gifts to each of the young participants.
The gifts given to the girls included educational materials, sweets, and other tokens of appreciation, symbolizing the college's dedication to the well-being and development of its students. The event concluded with a collective meal (prasad) shared by all attendees, fostering a sense of community and togetherness.
On Dt.15-03-2024, The Vibrant Tapestry of Vistoso 2024 Annual Fest unfolded as a mesmerizing celebration of culture, courage, and creativity, leaving attendees enchanted and craving for more. The event showcased a rich array of performances and activities, immersing participants in a whirlwind of joy and laughter.
The festivities kicked off with the enchanting rhythms of Kashmiri dance, captivating the audience with its grace and elegance. This was followed by a poignant portrayal of valor in the Saragarhi act, reminding everyone of the indomitable spirit and bravery of our ancestors. The glamorous spectacle of the fashion show dazzled spectators, with models showcasing designs ranging from retro vibes to Bollywood glam, and from Haryanvi folk to Manipuri elegance. The fusion of diverse cultural elements created a vibrant tapestry of colors and rhythms, truly embodying the spirit of Vistoso. CGC College donates money to 4th Class Employees to appreciate their services and supporting them financially on Vistoso Annual Fest 2024.
A highlight of the event was the electrifying performance by Darshan Raval at CGC Jhanjeri. His dynamic stage presence and versatile musical repertoire, ranging from heart-pounding beats to soulful melodies, captivated the audience and left them spellbound. The concert was an unforgettable experience, leaving attendees craving for more.
On the evening of April 6th, 2024, CGC Jhanjeri hosted a vibrant Iftaar party, welcoming numerous students to partake in the festivities. As dusk settled, the campus came alive with an atmosphere of unity and celebration. The gathering served as a testament to the diverse and inclusive nature of the institution, bringing together individuals from various backgrounds to commemorate the breaking of the fast during the holy month of Ramadan.
As the call to prayer echoed through the air, signaling the end of the day's fast, students eagerly indulged in a sumptuous spread of fruits and refreshments. Laughter and conversation flowed freely, fostering a sense of community and belonging among all those present. It was a moment of shared joy and gratitude, as students came together to appreciate the blessings of friendship and fellowship.Overall, the Iftaar party at CGC Jhanjeri on April 6th, 2024, was a resounding success, leaving a lasting impression on all who attended. It served as a reminder of the importance of inclusivity and solidarity, transcending cultural and religious boundaries to bring people together in celebration and harmony.
On January 12, 2024, CGC Jhanjeri radiated with the festive glow of Lohri, a celebration that not only marked the end of winter but also embodied the spirit of giving and community. Amidst the lively beats of traditional Punjabi music that filled the air, the campus witnessed an outpouring of generosity towards the less fortunate.As part of the tradition of Lohri, students, faculty, and staff came together to share their blessings with those in need. Gift packages filled with essentials such as warm clothing, blankets, and food items were distributed to the poor and underprivileged individuals in the surrounding communities. The act of giving was not just a gesture of charity but a symbol of solidarity and compassion, reflecting the ethos of Lohri.
The recipients of these gifts were greeted with smiles and gratitude, their spirits lifted by the kindness and generosity of the CGC Jhanjeri community. In the exchange of gifts, bonds were forged, bridging divides and strengthening the sense of unity among all who participated.
