The NSS wing, under the auspices of the Dean of Students' Welfare (DSW) at Chandigarh Group of Colleges-Jhanjeri, celebrated Mother's Day with great fervor and compassion at the Kartar Aasra NGO. The NSS students extended their heartfelt gestures by presenting gifts of suits and fruits to the elder ladies residing at the NGO. The event was marked by meaningful conversations and shared learning experiences between the NSS students and the elderly women. On this 11th of May, 2024, the event not only honored the spirit of Mother's Day but also embodied the essence of compassion and respect towards the elderly in our society.
On January 12, 2024, CGC Jhanjeri radiated with the festive glow of Lohri, a celebration that not only marked the end of winter but also embodied the spirit of giving and community. Amidst the lively beats of traditional Punjabi music that filled the air, the campus witnessed an outpouring of generosity towards the less fortunate.
As part of the tradition of Lohri, students, faculty, and staff came together to share their blessings with those in need. Gift packages filled with essentials such as warm clothing, blankets, and food items were distributed to the poor and underprivileged individuals in the surrounding communities. The act of giving was not just a gesture of charity but a symbol of solidarity and compassion, reflecting the ethos of Lohri.
The recipients of these gifts were greeted with smiles and gratitude, their spirits lifted by the kindness and generosity of the CGC Jhanjeri community. In the exchange of gifts, bonds were forged, bridging divides and strengthening the sense of unity among all who participated.
From June 11 to June 15, 2022, CGC Jhanjeri's Department of Student Welfare and Fashion Design Department, under the Unnat Bharat Program, organized a five-day free craft workshop at Mjaatri Gurudwara, running daily from 10 AM to 1 PM. This initiative aimed to empower rural women by teaching them valuable skills to earn their basic livelihood. The camp included active participation from the NSS wing, ensuring a comprehensive and supportive environment for learning. The camp was a resounding success, fostering a sense of empowerment and self-sufficiency among the rural women and reinforcing the commitment of CGC Jhanjeri to social development and community upliftment.
On July 10th, 2024, CGC Jhanjeri's Department of Student Affairs and NSS wing organized a momentous MoU signing ceremony with the Green Campus Program initiative. This collaboration focuses on enhancing sustainability efforts both on campus and in the surrounding local areas. As part of this initiative, CGC Jhanjeri committed to various sustainability projects, including those under the government program #EkPedMaakeNaam. To mark the occasion, 100 plants were planted on campus, symbolizing our dedication to environmental stewardship. The event was a significant step towards fostering a greener and more sustainable future, receiving widespread appreciation from attendees and stakeholders.
On July 26th, CGC Jhanjeri, in collaboration with the Department of Student Affairs and the NSS wing, organized a competition where students were tasked with capturing images of outdoor species on campus. Participants were required to submit the collected data to the Department of Student Affairs, and those who collected the most data were declared the winners. This event was also associated with the Green Campus Program, promoting environmental awareness and conservation. The competition saw enthusiastic participation from the students and was a resounding success, contributing valuable data for campus biodiversity records.

On 7th August 2024, the NSS wing of CGC Jhanjeri successfully organized an awareness session on cyber security, held on the first Wednesday of the month at the campus. The session aimed to educate students on critical issues such as hacking, online frauds, responsible internet use, and the importance of privacy policies. The event featured expert speakers who provided valuable insights and practical advice on how to protect personal information in the digital age. Attended by a large number of students, the session was interactive, with participants actively engaging in discussions and seeking guidance on staying safe online. The event was well-received, reinforcing the importance of cyber security awareness among the student community.
On 13th September 2024, the students of CGC-J participated in a creative poster-making contest using Canva, held at the Conference Hall. The event showcased the artistic and design talents of students, with a wide array of posters created on various themes. Participants demonstrated their creativity, technical skills, and innovative ideas in poster design, utilizing the versatile features of Canva. The competition fostered a spirit of creativity and collaboration, with students presenting impressive and visually striking designs. The event concluded with positive feedback from both participants and faculty, highlighting the importance of digital tools in creative expression.
